ATHLETICA360 In Badminton

Real-time Trajectory Analysis
Real-Time Trajectory Analysis is used in our code to track movements. By processing movement trends live, we are able to identify and analyze specific swings and plays made by the player. This then allows for further analysis to be done both at the end and during play. Furthermore, suggestions for the players could then be conveyed through the beeping sound created by the watch. This system allows for a great user experience by giving real-time feedback for swings that can be used in the player’s current session. Players, then, can change their swing correspondingly to adapt to the watch’s feedback.

6-axis gyroscope and Accelerometer
A 6-axis gyroscope and accelerometer sensor are used to collect data regarding the player. The sensor is able to pick up gyroscopic x, y, and z-degree movement and acceleration, allowing for the identification and recording of translational movements made by the player using physics functions. Differing from a 3 axis gyroscope, by using a six-axis gyroscope, we are able to take in more parameters that can be used in recording translational movements. Specifically, we use a QMI8658 to sense these changes. After data is collected, trends can be created and analyzed by tracking the data which can then be further processed by our machine learning algorithm.

AI Machine learning
optimization
Our code uses AI-optimized parameters in machine learning algorithms in order to conduct predictions and assessments of player play quality. While the machine learning algorithm is able to quantitatively assess play quality, AI programs are able to optimize parameters in order to achieve higher degrees of accuracy. However, different from many other optimized algorithms, our code accounts for the overfitting created by AI parameters with programming training designed to achieve high accuracy without the issue of overfitting commonly seen in AI-powered programs. This is due to specific machine learning algorithms designed to reduce the degree of overfitting in our model during training.

Coaching Beyond the Court
-
Badminton is a sport where small adjustments can lead to significant gains. With the device, you’re not just training—you’re getting expert-level coaching anytime, anywhere.
-
The Q&A coaching feature allows athletes to interact with a library of video tutorials or frequently asked questions about common mistakes and how to fix them.
-
Feedback is contextual—suggestions are provided based on the athlete's skill level, body type, and goals.
Example: Smash Feedback in Action -
Imagine executing a smash during training, and the device immediately informs you that your racket's angle was too shallow, causing less shuttle velocity. It provides a tip like:
"Increase the backswing for more power and keep your wrist rotation smooth for better shuttle speed." -
By practicing these insights, athletes can master key techniques with precision.

Adaptive Goal Setting
-
The device uses input like weight, age, and skill level to create personalized benchmarks and training plans.
-
For example, it might recommend increasing your lunges during drills to improve your speed while covering the net area or adjusting your diet to enhance stamina.
-
Each session closes with targeted progress visuals, like a report card, motivating users to achieve specific badminton-related objectives.
